In October 11, 2018 the Institute of History of St. Petersburg state University held an open lecture of doctor of Sciences of the University of Deusto (Bilbao, Spain) Maria Jesus Pozas «St. Petersburg of the era of Alexander I: creative city. The contributions of the Spanish engineer Agustin de Betancourt in city planning and architecture». The open lecture presented a new approach to the study of the heritage of the Spanish engineer and architect Augustine Betancourt (1758–1824) in a global perspective, inscribed in a historical context. At the opening of the event, Mr. Felix Valdez, Consul General of the Kingdom of Spain in St. Petersburg, made a welcoming speech.
